The RareND club and the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare and Neglected Diseases at the University of Notre Dame have partnered with Know The Glow (KTG), a non-profit organization that works globally to spread awareness of leukocoria and drives action to prevent early childhood blindness.
As part of the fall campus awareness campaign, RareND will raise awareness of the “glow” which is a golden-yellow spot seen in the eye when a picture is captured using flash in low light. This “glow,” medically known as leukocoria, can be indicative of several eye diseases, including Retinoblastoma and Coats disease, and if detected early, could promote early diagnosis and thus prevent blindness.
KTG has partnered with organizations all over the world including countries such as India, Nepal, Vietnam, Venezuela, and Cambodia, and now comes to the University of Notre Dame in an effort to raise awareness and prevent childhood blindness.
Find us at Duncan Student Center on November 1st from 11:30 - 3:30 pm and help us raise awareness about The Glow with a premium filter, now public on Snapchat!
