MSPA Peer Leader Program
Peer Leader Program
Peer Leaders help drive outreach and campus engagement for the minor in science and patient advocacy, as well as for the broader Patient Advocacy Initiative. They are a group of student leaders within the minor, chosen through an application process, and help:
-
- Generate excitement about the minor across campus and provide education about rare diseases.
- Serve patients and sustain ongoing partnerships with patient organizations.
- Provide rare disease outreach and education to their peers across the broader Notre Dame campus community.
Each month, the Peer Leaders select a rare disease or topic to focus on, which then serves as an anchor to the ongoing programming that they lead:
-
- A weekly newsletter for students in the minor that provides education about the given rare disease and how students can learn more,
- Monthly outreach to the broader student body by hosting a booth in the dining hall entrance during lunchtime to raise awareness about that disease, and
- Monthly activity-based events for students in the minor that are focused on supporting patients in that rare disease community.
